MRV organized an adventurous field trip for Grade 6 students to the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Udyan and Zoo, taking education beyond the classroom walls. To imbibe knowledge on the topic, ‘Classification of Plants and Animals,’ the students embarked on a fascinating journey into the wild heart of the zoo. It was a great opportunity for them to connect with wildlife and understand their lifestyle in their natural habitats.
The students embarked on a nature trail to explore the wonderful world of land animals. They first visited the mammoth elephant, the greeting sloth bear, the laughing hyena, and the magnificent Siberian tigers. This was followed by a fascinating view of the endangered turtles, sambar deer, leopards, crocodiles, and hippopotamuses. Excitement filled the air as the silence was split with the calls of vibrant birds such as pelicans, storks, herons, spoonbills, and ostriches. An extraordinary sight was the dancing penguins, who are conditioned to live in a special temperature-controlled exhibit.
The interaction allowed the students to get personal with the wild animals, understanding their classification, behavior, feeding habits, and habitats. The field trip was an enriching experience that broadened their knowledge of biodiversity, ecosystems, and the conservation and preservation of our Earth’s natural flora and fauna.
This immersive experience fostered an everlasting love for animals and a deep sense of responsibility toward safeguarding the natural world. By engaging with the animals and their environments, the students developed a greater appreciation for the importance of conservation efforts and the need to protect our planet's diverse ecosystems.
