Marathi Language Day was celebrated at Met Rishikul Vidyalaya on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jnanpith Award-winning poet V. V. Shirwadkar alias Kusumagraj and in honor of the Marathi language.
The students, dressed in traditional "Nauvari", invited the Principal Dr. G Nageshree and started the cultural program with lighting of the lamp and offering prayers for the world. The students performed traditional Marathi dance forms like Gondal, Lavani, Koli Geet. The students of class I performed children's songs like Chocolatcha Bangla, Lothe Baba, the impact of which lingered in the ears and minds of everyone even after the program was over. The program ended with a pasaydan for the welfare of the world.
Marathi diwas is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of the renowned Marathi poet and writer, Kusumagraj (Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar). He was born on February 27, 1912.
Kusumagraj was a prominent figure in Marathi literature and played a significant role in promoting the language and culture. He was awarded the Jnanpith Award, India's highest literary honor, in 1987.
